Using Google Classroom, the children are expected to complete the assigned activities throughout the day. These consist of English, maths and two topic tasks, and correspond with the regular Year Five curriculum to help with consistency for the children.
Completed work should be shared with the class teacher by attaching the files of anything completed electronically or photographs of paper-based tasks to the daily assignment. Instructions for how to do this have been shared via PDF and video on Google Classroom.
Home Learning is set on a Thursday and due the following Tuesday. The tasks will be set on Google Classroom.
Generally these tasks will be: Times Tables Rockstars/MyMaths, spelling and reading. Students will only bring home reading books and spelling logs. Please encourage your child to access Google Classroom to complete the tasks every week.
MARKING AND FEEDBACK
For each assignment, class teachers will be looking to see how many of those tasks have been attached to the assignment and tracking that engagement with a points system: ten points for each activity. These points are a record of which tasks have been attempted and shared with us. We will also be providing a short comment for any further feedback.
Pupils are encouraged to communicate regularly with their teacher via Google Classroom, either in the comments section or through email. There are also daily Google Meet help sessions running from 10:00 to 11:00.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact the Year Five team through the [email@example.com] office e-mail. We are always here to help in these difficult circumstances.
