CROSSHALL JUNIOR SCHOOL GOVERNOR PROFILE
NAME: Hayley Leher
TYPE: Community Governor
A mother-of three, Hayley is a community governor. In common with all new governors Hayley was given a full introduction to the school including a 'learning walk'. This involves a tour with the Head Teacher - a great way to see teaching in action and get a feel for how Crosshall runs on a day-to-day basis. As Hayley noted, "I was very impressed by the children's behaviour, the standard of teaching and the vast amount of resources available".
Hayley has also had the chance to undertake induction training for governors - one of the many specialist courses offered to governors and a great way to meet fellow governors from other schools in the area.
From meeting and training to link governor visits, there is a certain time commitment involved in becoming a governor. However, like many parents, helping out at school is nothing new to Hayley and taking on this role was very important as she explains "I decided to become a Governor so that I could offer my perspective as a parent and also be actively involved in making decisions that affect our children.
"Given that children spend four years of their formative lives at the Junior School, as a parent I want to ensure that they are happy, safe and receiving an outstanding education that will benefit them throughout their lives."
