School Governors

The role of the school governing body is to:

     * provide a strategic direction for the work and improvement of the school

     * support,monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the school

     * hold the school to account for the standards achieved and the quality of education

The DfES advises that:

     "The governing body fulfils a largely strategic role in the running of the school.  It should establish the strategic framework by:

          * setting aims and objectives for the school;

          * adopting policies for achieving those aims and objectives;

          * setting targets for achieving those aims and objectives."
